Reiki for Arthritis

What is Reiki?
The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words, "rei" refers to universal spirit, and "ki"
means life force, together they refer to universal life force energy. This energy can only be channelled by a
practitioner who has been attuned, which means the person has had their body's energy channells opened and cleared.
This then connects the attuned person to the source of universal energy, and allows them to not only heal
themselves, but to heal others.
Reiki is thought to have had its origins in an ancient Tibetian Buddhist healing practice which
involved the laying on of hands. Reiki was rediscovered in 1800s and developed by Dr Mikau Usi who then passed his
knowledge on to his successor Dr Chujiro Hayashi who then developed it ,into the system of healing as we know it
today with standarized hand positions.
A Reiki treatment involves the practitioner placing their hands on or near the person receiving
treatment, with the intent to transmit ki,or life-force energy. The treatment begins with the placement of hands on
the crown of the head, and then proceeds down the entire body to the feet. The treatment usually takes around one
hour, maybe longer, during this time both patient and practitioner are in a meditative state, soft background music
may be played to encourge relaxation.
A Reiki treatment for someone with arthritis is ideal, this simple, gentle, non
invasive healing modality has the power to not only cure your arthritis, but to change your life for the
better. No matter how advanced your arthritis may be you will benefit from Reiki treatments, moreover the fact that
your are not required to disrobe, lessens the inconvenience for someone whose mobility may be restricted.
There really isn't anything new or mysterious about energy healing, mothers have long known about
the power of touch for their ailing children, the mother instinctively knows to place her hand on the part of her
child's body which has been injured. Nurses are very much aware of how the touch of a hand has the power to soothe
the patient, and now touch therapies are employed in many hospitals to assist healing. Reiki has been used for both
animals and plants, and has produced very positive results.
Ideally becoming attuned yourself ,after you have experienced the benefits of Reiki for your
arthritis, would then allow you to self heal and also to heal others. A Reiki attunement is a
wonderful experience, each person will experience it differently, some will feel filled with light, others will
feel the energy flowing throught them, whatever, the feeling, another healer has been created and they will take
this healing energy with them for the rest of their life.
